Nutritional therapy and my approach

Herbs and spices

The body is not just a collection of separate parts, but rather an interconnected web of systems, working together to create a healthy and thriving individual. When one area is out of balance, it can have whole-body implications.

I use the principles of nutrition and lifestyle science to address the underlying cause of health concerns, rather than just treating the symptoms. Of course I look at what you are eating, but this isn't the only thing, for example: How and where do you eat your food? What is your exposure to toxins? How well are you sleeping? How much stress are you dealing with? Do you have a history of taking antibiotics? And so on!

The answers to these questions will be different from one person to the next, therefore any one health condition can have many different contributory factors - my aim is to understand what your specific factors are underlying your health concerns and then I address these. This way we're not just putting a sticking plaster on to provide temporary and short-term relief, but instead making lasting changes.

Hi! My name is Julia, founder of Oak Nutrition

My initial degree many years ago was in zoology, working for many years in the construction industry. It was here that my eyes were first opened to the impact the built environment can have on our health. So many illnesses are influenced by diet, lifestyle or environmental factors such as mould and toxins, and yet these factors are often ignored. But it was really once I had my own children that I became acutely aware of the influence of nutrition and lifestyle choices on health. So back to school I went! I studied at BCNH College of Nutrition and Health, an intense 4 year course including a year of clinical practice, and qualified with a Distinction as a Nutritional Therapist.*

In 2016 I moved to Switzerland with my husband and two children - a wrench leaving family and friends behind, but we love it here so much. I now work with clients from the UK and Switzerland, and whilst I predominately see clients online, I do also have my own practice here in Buochs, Switzerland, for clients that may prefer in-person consultations. â€‹â€‹

Aside from nutritional therapy, my life is filled with doing things that - as far as possible - bring me joy. Being at the foot of the mountains, life is geared up to being in the great outdoors with hiking, biking, swimming and skiing - I love it! After family, the next big love in my life is tennis - it has been ever since I was little - and I sit on our local club committee trying to organise matches and events to bring the community together. I like to try my hand at most things - singing, guitar, painting, sewing and knitting (that last one I'm still trying to master!) - having two daughters I'm so conscious of phones and screens creeping into our lives, so try to lead by example as much as I can.
